Head Outdoors was set up to make a positive difference and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results from our activities. The feedback we have had from participants, and their care providers, has been so incredibly positive, that it has made us even more determined to grow the charity so that more young people can experience its benefits.
The services funded by Head Outdoors are often the highlight of the week for these young adults and their ability to enjoy this, build confidence, learn skills and teamwork and relax away from their facility has been a bigger success than anyone thought.
After each session, the group (instructors, staff, volunteers and participants) have tea and cake and reflect on the time they spend together. This is written up (illustrated with drawings and photos in diaries – see below) as a permanent reminder and record of the progress the inpatients have made and the shared experience the team has had over the months.
Once a term, full reports are written on the progress and wellbeing of each participant, which is shared with them.
